Justine Madugu’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in their quarter-final encounter at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca, on Sunday night. Cameroon, who will face hosts Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in the semi-finals, earned a spot at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup following the hard-earned victory.
The Super Falcons will now hope to qualify for Brazil 2027 through the playoffs.
Kanu confessed that the Super Falcons are still haunted by the defeat to Cameroon, revealing that the majority of the players couldn’t eat after the game.
“People are still in their feelings,” Kanu told ESPN.
“Some people didn’t even come out today for breakfast. Most of us, like myself, I didn’t have breakfast. I didn’t show up to lunch.”
“It was later in the afternoon that I decided to eat something. And it is just the same as some of my teammates. We’ve all been down.”
