Toke Makinwa regrets spending her 20s on One relationship

Toke Makinwa has shared a candid reflection on her past, revealing that she spent her entire 20s focused on a single relationship.

Talking on the show “Cocktails and Takeaways,” Toke Makinwa expressed her reservations about her youthful decisions.

Looking back, Toke Makinwa confessed that she didn’t particularly enjoy her 20s, largely due to her all-consuming relationship. She acknowledged that she was unaware of her own identity and priorities during that period.

However, Makinwa emphasized that her experiences have ultimately shaped her into the person she is today. She expressed gratitude for her current circumstances and the lessons she has learned along the way.

Addressing young people, Makinwa offered words of wisdom, advising them to prioritize self-discovery and personal growth before committing to marriage. She stressed the importance of getting to know oneself before making long-term commitments.

“I don’t think I liked my twenties. I don’t think I knew what I was doing because I was in love with one man in my 20s. I spent my entire 20s following one man.

“If I could turn back the hand of time, I’m grateful that I’m where I am today because my experience has shaped me.

“But I tell young people that you have no business getting married in your early or mid-twenties. Figure yourself out. Know yourself first.”
