Super Eagles and Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has revealed why he decided to leave Napoli when Antonio Conte joined the former Serie A winners.
Osimhen has been the major highlight of the transfer window in the past two years he completed his move to Galatasaray. The most controversial saga concerning the Nigerian was when Antonio Conte joined Napoli and it was rumoured that the Italian could not work with Osimhen.
However, Osimhen has cleared the air about what transpired between himself and Conte that saw him leave Napoli that summer transfer window.
He said,
“Some people said [Conte] didn’t want me. As soon as he arrived, Conte called me into his office and said he wanted me to stay. I told him I would have liked to work with him, but I didn’t want to keep working in a place where I didn’t feel happy.”
Osimhen also spoke about how Napoli stopped him from joining Juventus.
The Galatasaray player confirmed that he was close to joining Juventus but Napoli stopped his move to Turin.
He said,
“I could have joined Juventus, yes. Juve wanted to sign me… but Napoli president De Laurentiis didn’t want to sell me to Juventus. For sure, Juventus are a top club. When Juventus call you, you listen.”
Osimhen has been in amazing form since he joined Galatasaray leading them to winning the Turkish league, a feat which could be achieved this season.
