Terem Moffi moves to terminate Nice contract

Nigeria forward Terem Moffi and his OGC Nice teammate Jérémie Boga have begun formal steps to end their contracts with the Ligue 1 club following a violent attack by supporters late last year

The two players were reportedly assaulted at Nice’s training facility in November 2025 after the club’s 3-1 loss to Lorient. Angry fans allegedly hit, kicked and spat on them in the aftermath of the defeat.

Get French Football News reports that both players were singled out due to separate incidents that angered supporters. Moffi, who previously played for Lorient, was seen laughing with Lorient president Loïc Féry on Ligue 1 Plus after the match, which marked Nice’s sixth straight defeat across all competitions. Boga, meanwhile, had earlier invited Olympique de Marseille fans to the Allianz Riviera ahead of a humiliating 5-1 home loss to their rivals, an action he later apologised for.

Since the attack, neither Moffi nor Boga has featured for Nice. L’Équipe reports that the pair have now officially started the process of leaving the club.

“Since the incident, Boga and Moffi have been unable to return to first-team training,” Get French Football News wrote.
“Their initial sick leave period was meant to last around one week; however, it has been repeatedly extended. The two Nice players have also opened legal proceedings against the alleged perpetrators of the violence on November 30.

“The players’ lawyers have now moved to see their contracts terminated, on the basis that the necessary measures to ensure their security were not taken by the club.”

The report added that the matter is expected to be reviewed by the league’s judicial commission, with a meeting scheduled for Thursday.

Both players are under contract with Nice until the summer of 2027. Moffi, 26, only recently returned from an injury that sidelined him from October. He has made 10 appearances this season, scoring twice in the league.
