African music stars like Tems, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Asake have once again secured major recognition on the global stage following the release of the nominees list for the 2026 BET Awards
Nigerian singer Tems emerged as the most nominated African act this year with three nominations. The Grammy-winning star earned spots in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category, BET Her for her song “First,” and Viewers’ Choice for “Raindance” with Dave.
South African sensation Tyla followed closely with two nominations. She was recognised in both the Video of the Year and Viewers’ Choice categories for her hit track “Chanel.”
Afrobeats superstar Wizkid also made the nominees list with one nomination in the Best Group category alongside Asake for their collaboration.
Asake equally secured one nomination through the same Best Group category, continuing his impressive international rise.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy picked up a nomination in the Best Collaboration category for “wgft” with Gunna.
