Grammy-winning singer, Tems, was honored with the prestigious Diamond Award at the inaugural Billboard Global Power Players event held at Shoreditch House in East London.
The award was presented by Nkosiyati Khumalo, the incoming editor of Billboard Africa, during a night that celebrated influential voices shaping the global music industry.
In her acceptance speech, Tems reflected on the significance of the recognition, saying:
“Being African and a musician is a whole new world, and I feel like Billboard has been incredibly supportive—not just of African music, but the culture as a whole. This is such a great honor, especially as African music is reaching heights never seen before. Billboard is truly helping move that needle forward.”
The event also recognized other music industry giants. British icon Sir Elton John received the Creators’ Champion Award, while EMPIRE founder and CEO Ghazi Shami was presented with the Clive Davis Visionary Award by Nigerian rap star and YBNL label boss, Olamide.
