Team Brazil has emerged victorious at the E1 Lagos GP on Sunday, securing their first-ever win in the all-electric powerboat series
Led by pilot Timmy Hansen, Team Brazil dominated through the group stages, race-offs, and final, finishing ahead of Team Blue Rising in second place and Team Drogba in third.
Top contenders Team Rafa and Team Brady missed out on the podium, despite their ongoing rivalry at the top of the championship standings leading into the Lagos event.
The Brazilian team earned 38 points for the victory, bringing their total to 89, though they remain behind in the title race with just one event left in the season.
The E1 Lagos GP marked a historic milestone as Lagos became the first African city to host the E1 World Championship — the world’s first all-electric powerboat racing series.
Launched last year in Jeddah, the championship has been dubbed the “Formula One of the seas,” blending high-speed action with cutting-edge electric technology and a strong focus on sustainability.
The E1 series was co-founded by Alejandro Agag, the entrepreneur behind Formula E and Extreme E, and former Formula One engineer Rodi Basso, with the goal of promoting cleaner and greener marine transport through competitive sport.
The Lagos race served as the penultimate event of the season, setting the stage for an exciting finale in Miami next month.
