Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has urged President Bola Tinubu to consider rewarding the Super Falcons’ coaches more generously than the players, arguing that their contributions were equally — if not more — vital to the team’s success.
It will be recalled that President Tinubu recently gifted each member of the Super Falcons squad $100,000 and a three-bedroom apartment following their dramatic victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Members of the technical crew were also promised $50,000 each and similar housing.
Speaking during Sunday service on August 3, Pastor Adeboye thanked the President for honouring the team but said the coaching staff should earn at least as much as the players.
According to the 83-year-old cleric, who revealed he was a sportsman in his youth, the Falcons would not have lifted the trophy without the tactical insight provided by their coaches.
He emphasised that while talent is important, it is the wisdom and strategy of coaches that guide players to victory.
“You need a coach to win; coaches have the knowledge and wisdom required to win. If you don’t know how to win, you will lose,” he said.
“To be part of a winning team in life, you must know how to win. You need wisdom. Wisdom is better than strength.”
