Omoni Oboli shares strategy that shaped her YouTube success

Nigerian filmmaker and actress Omoni Oboli has spoken about the deliberate steps that shaped her success in YouTube filmmaking, stressing that her journey was carefully planned rather than accidental

In a recent interview with Premium Times, she explained that building a loyal audience was one of the first things she focused on. She said “people naturally want to feel like they belong,” which influenced how she structured her content and communication with viewers. By creating that connection, she made her audience feel included in the growth of her platform.

She described her viewers as more than just an audience, calling them “active participants who contribute ideas and feedback.”

According to her, this constant exchange helps her understand what people want to watch and allows her team to adjust their productions accordingly.

Speaking on her projects, Oboli referred to her 2025 film Love in Every Word (Parts One and Two) as a defining moment in her YouTube journey. The strong reception of the first part led to demand for a continuation, which encouraged her team to move forward with the sequel. Even with a bigger cast and more detailed scenes, she said the production was completed within eight to nine days, with the wedding scene alone taking an entire day.

She also noted that her move into YouTube had started years earlier. Filming began around 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted her plans and delayed releases, a situation that later led her to address concerns from her audience.

Consistency, she explained, remains central to her approach. Her team releases new films weekly to keep viewers engaged, although they sometimes pause briefly to allow rest. Despite this, the production process continues steadily.

Beyond storytelling, she pointed out that the platform supports many people, as it provides “steady work for her crew.” She added that the project is not just about profit but also about creating opportunities and sustaining livelihoods within the industry.
