Nigeria’s national men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, smashed Argentina 94-71 on Monday evening, July 12, just one day after beating the USA basketball team.
In the early hours of Sunday, July 11, 2021, D’Tigers beat the USA in an exhibition game ahead of the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Then, in continuation of their preparation for the Olympics, Nigeria also bested Argentina 94-71 on Monday evening, July 12, at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.
Argentines led 19-17 at the end of the first quarter but D’Tigers returned with more zeal in the second quarter, outscoring the South Americans 26-14 to take a 10-point lead into halftime 43-33.
At the end of the third quarter, Nigeria stretched their lead to 19 points to finish the quarter at 74-55.
The team consolidated their effort in the final quarter to win 20-16, finishing the game 94-71
Nigerians on Twitter are celebrating that after besting the USA – the FIBA-ranked No.1 team – D’Tigers followed up that victory with another eye-catching win over the No.4-ranked Argentines.
