Afrobeats star Daniel Benson, popularly known as BNXN, believes there is no comparison between the earnings of top National Basketball Association (NBA) players and Nigerian musicians.
The singer made the remark during a recent livestream with streamer Ojo, where he spoke about his friendships with some basketball players and how their wealth surprised him.
“I am friends with a few NBA players. These guys have so much money. Nigerian artists don’t even have as much money as them”, he said.
BNXN said the difference in earnings becomes even more obvious when looking at players like Jaylen Brown, insisting that Afrobeats stars are nowhere near NBA athletes financially.
“NBA players are insanely rich. A player of Jaylen Brown’s calibre have so much money. Afrobeats are not close to athletes in terms of earnings”, he stated.
According to the singer, the success of Afrobeats on the global stage has not translated into the kind of financial rewards enjoyed by players in the NBA, whose contracts and endorsements put them in a different league.
