Accorded as one of the biggest nights in South African music, the awards pre-recorded and screened on SABC 1 rewarded the best of the best of the South African music industry ranging across all genres on Saturday 31st of July 2021.
The Hip-hop duo Blaq Diamond made history as they became the first ever duo to be named Artist of the Year at the SAMAs.
Female prolific rapper Sho Madjozi bagged two awards that night, carting away the awards for Best Traditional Album and the Sofnfree Female Artist of the Year.
Familiar face, Nasty C also bagged an award for Best Hip-Hop Album award for his ‘Zulu Man With Some Power’ album. Singer and record producer Master KG bagged the SAMRO Composer Highest Airplay award that he shares with Nomcebo Zikode. He also took home the International Achiever Award for his smash hit ‘Jerusalema’, which features Nomcebo.
Gospel singer Bucy Radebe also took home two awards that night; Best Traditional Faith Album for Spiritual Encounter and the White Star Newcomer of the Year.
