Actress, Beverly Osu has opened up about how love has been at the center of the challenges she’s faced in life.
Speaking with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Osu reflected on the controversial moments from her time on Big Brother Africa in 2013, particularly the widely debated incident involving South African dance teacher and fellow housemate, Angelo Collins.
Osu stood by her long-held claim that she never had sex with Angelo during the show, despite public speculation. She admitted, however, that the scandal took a toll on her budding career at the time.
She attributed the rumors to the intense feelings she had for Angelo and how comfortable she was around him, which led to assumptions by viewers.
“I was only 20. I had people who loved me for who I was, but people only focused on my relationship with Angelo,” she said. “I didn’t do it. I was just in love. Literally, all my problems in life come from love — the greatest gift of God.”
The actress emphasized that her deep affection for Angelo made her let her guard down on the show. “I was madly in love. That’s why I was so free around him. I mean, I was dating him — should I have been tying a gele to show I was in love?” she added.
Osu has previously pointed fingers at the Nigerian media for playing a role in the collapse of her relationship with Angelo. “One day, a paper says I’m with this man. The next day, another says something else. I just don’t know anymore,” she said.
