“My partner has to be a God-fearing man” — Tems

In a recent interview with media personality Angie Martinez, the Grammy-winning artist explained that love alone isn’t enough to sustain a lifelong relationship.

“My partner has to be a God-fearing man,” Tems said. “Because if you have no one you answer to, how can you commit fully to loving someone for life?”

She stressed that marriage should be a space for growth, both as a couple and as individuals. “Marriage is not just about romantic love; it’s about evolving together,” Tems noted. “It’s about facing the hard times and coming out stronger as a person.”

Tems’ perspective shows her belief that enduring relationships require faith, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to overcoming life’s challenges together.

The singer has made a significant impact on music both in Nigeria and globally. Born on June 11, 1995, in Lagos, she rose to international fame after featuring on Wizkid’s 2020 hit “Essence,” which reached the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100 and earned her a Grammy nomination.
