Music changed my life – Ayra Starr

Music changed my life – Ayra Starr

Ayra Starr,  has reflected on what her life could have looked like had she never found success in the entertainment industry, admitting that she struggles to picture herself doing anything else

“If I weren’t doing music, I would literally be unemployed. I don’t even think I would be a content creator because that’s a lot of work. I would just be chilling in my mum’s house and eating my mum’s food,” she said.

The singer’s comments offer a glimpse into how much she credits music for shaping her journey and successto who she is today.

Since joining Mavin Records in 2020, Ayra Starr has grown into one of Africa’s most recognized music exports, but she remembers a time when she was still trying to get people to notice her work.

Looking back on those early days, she recalled the excitement she felt after learning that key industry figures had started paying attention to her songs.

“I was so excited when I found out they were listening to my music. You know who it is.”

Her breakthrough eventually came after Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy discovered her online.

Away from discussions about her career, Ayra Starr also addressed the realities of fame, admitting that she sometimes regrets how much of herself she reveals during interviews and public appearances.

“I really wish people knew less about me. Once the camera comes on, I can’t stop talking, and I feel like I overshare,” she stated.
