Nollywood actor Prince Eke didn’t hold back in his recent post, calling out Nigerian celebrities for staying silent on the country’s problems.
According to Prince, many entertainers are more interested in personal gain than speaking out against bad governance.
“The earlier you understand that most of these so-called celebrities are not worth being influenced by, the better for you,” he wrote.
He accused actors and musicians of quietly watching corruption thrive while hoping for favors from politicians.
“Actors and musicians alike watched Nigeria drown in corruption and bad governance and kept their mouths shut. Why? Because they are waiting for politicians to throw them a few peanuts to come and dance during campaigns,” he added.
Eke didn’t stop there. He argued that if Nigeria’s system actually worked, many celebrities would still be earning from their old movies instead of scrambling for quick wins.
“If Nigeria actually worked, many of them would still be earning royalties from movies they acted in decades ago. But instead of demanding a working system, they line up to be used by the same politicians destroying the country.”
And for those shocked by seeing celebrities stand with corrupt leaders, Eke offered a blunt explanation:
“Many of them are broke, desperate, and perfectly willing to sell their conscience to the highest bidder. After all, conscience no dey put food for their table.”
It’s so unfortunate that many are only concerned with their pockets and how they will benefit, thinking about themselves and funding their lifestyles without any regard for the interests of the masses.
