Morocco defends CAF ruling on Senegal AFCON 2025 forfeiture

The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football has responded to the CAF Appeal Board’s decision on the contested AFCON 2025 final

In a statement on its official website, the federation emphasized that its appeal was intended to ensure proper enforcement of competition rules, not to challenge the sporting achievements of any team.

“The Federation reiterates that its approach has always been grounded in respect for the rules and stability of African competitions,” the statement read.

The Moroccan federation also praised all participating nations, highlighting the tournament’s importance for the growth of African football.

It said a comprehensive position would be shared following a meeting of its governing bodies on Wednesday. This upcoming statement is expected to clarify the federation’s stance and outline any potential legal or administrative actions.

The CAF Appeal Committee’s ruling has sparked renewed discussions about governance and consistency in African football, with stakeholders urging clearer rules and more transparent decision-making. Morocco’s response could play a key role in shaping debates on reforms and accountability within CAF.
