Manchester City claimed FA Cup glory after edging Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley Stadium, with Antoine Semenyo producing a moment of brilliance to decide a tense final.
The match struggled to produce clear-cut chances for much of the contest, with both sides cancelling each other out in a cagey affair. However, the deadlock was broken in the 72nd minute in spectacular.
Semenyo reacted quickest to a cross delivered by Erling Haaland and improvised brilliantly, flicking the ball with a back-heel that looped beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and into the far corner.
That moment of creativity proved enough to hand Manchester City the trophy and keep their hopes of a domestic treble alive. Pep Guardiola’s side have already secured the English League Cup and remain firmly in the Premier League title race, sitting just behind Arsenal with two matches left.
The victory also adds another major honour to Guardiola’s impressive spell at the club, marking his 17th trophy with Manchester City and the 35th of his managerial career.
The FA Cup triumph takes City’s total wins in the competition to eight, placing them alongside Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham in the tournament’s historical rankings.
