Liverpool has reached a deal in principle to sign Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, a 23-year-old Georgian international goalkeeper, in the summer of 2025.
The move is seen as a long-term replacement for Alisson Becker, who is reportedly sought after by Saudi Arabian clubs.
Mamardashvili has impressed in La Liga and will join Liverpool after spending the upcoming season on loan at Bournemouth, due to Premier League rules prohibiting same-summer signings and loans to Premier League clubs.
The transfer fee is reported to be £30 million, with Bournemouth contributing £4 million as a loan fee.
The young goalkeeper has already gained 21 caps for Georgia and is expected to develop into a world-class player with coaching and experience.
Replacing Alisson Becker will be a challenge, but Mamardashvili’s potential and talent make him an exciting acquisition for Liverpool.
All parties seem satisfied with the agreement, which is expected to be finalized soon.
Mamardashvili’s move to Liverpool offers him the opportunity to compete for major trophies and grow as a player under top-tier coaching.
