Lamine Yamal has etched his name in football history by winning the 2025 Kopa Trophy, becoming the first player to secure the award in consecutive years
The 18-year-old Barcelona winger was presented with the honor at the 69th Ballon d’Or ceremony on September 22, 2025, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. He had previously lifted the Kopa Trophy in 2024 after Spain’s victory at the European Championships.
In the 2024–25 season, Yamal was instrumental in Barcelona’s domestic treble, helping the team claim La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. He registered 18 goals and 25 assists across all competitions, drawing widespread praise for his skill and consistency, with several Inter Milan players naming him their toughest opponent of the season.
His consecutive Kopa Trophy wins reinforce Barcelona’s dominance in the award’s history, joining club teammates Pedri (2021) and Gavi (2022) as previous recipients.
At the same ceremony, Barcelona’s Vicky López took home the inaugural women’s Kopa Trophy, highlighting the club’s strength in developing young talent.
Yamal’s back-to-back victories solidify his reputation as one of football’s brightest young stars.
