Kevin De Bruyne has officially announced he will leave Manchester City at the end of the current season, ending a remarkable 10-year journey that saw him win every major trophy with the club.
In an emotional letter shared on social media Friday, the Belgian playmaker told fans, “Nothing about this is easy to write, but as football players, we all know this day eventually comes. That day is here—and you deserve to hear it from me first.”
De Bruyne reflected on how deeply Manchester had impacted his life, saying, “Football led me to all of you and to this city. This city. This club. These people… gave me EVERYTHING. I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back!”
Celebrating his achievements, he simply put, “We won EVERYTHING.”
Now 33, De Bruyne thanked the club, staff, teammates, and fans for what he called “the best chapter” of his career. He also paid tribute to his family, stating, “Suri, Rome, Mason, Michèle, and I are beyond grateful… ‘Manchester’ will forever be on our kids’ passports—and more importantly, in each of our hearts.”
He ended his message with a heartfelt appeal: “Let’s enjoy these last moments together!”
De Bruyne, who wears the iconic number 17 shirt, remains a vital part of City’s push for more titles as he prepares to bid farewell to the Etihad faithful.
