Former Empire star Jussie Smollett returned to social media for the first time since his alleged and scrutinized attack in Chicago in January.
In celebration of Pride Month, the actor broke his silence and posted a video of Tarell Alvin McCraney giving a speech about Black queerness before he introduced his nominated play Choir Boy at the Tony Awards in New York City.
‘The bodies that uphold the great legacy of spirituals are often Black and queer,’ the playwright said. ‘When will we love all of them for who they are, not just for what they can do?’
Smollett captioned the video, ‘So much pride,’ along with two prayer emojis. The 36-year old actor had last shared on Instagram back on January 28.
