John Dumelo wins Ghana Parliament election

Famous Ghanaian actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo, has been declared the winner of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.

Dumelo, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated the incumbent, Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the parliamentary election held during Ghana’s general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

He secured victory with 40,561 votes, while Lydia Alhassan garnered 27,377.

This marks a significant comeback for Dumelo, who narrowly lost the same seat to Alhassan in the 2020 elections.

The actor, who started his acting career in 1991 while still in school, has appeared in numerous Gollywood and Nollywood films, earning widespread recognition before transitioning into politics.
