“Instant chemistry” — Aki reflects on how he met Pawpaw

Veteran Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, widely known as Aki, has shared a personal story about how he first met his longtime colleague and on-screen partner, Osita Iheme, popularly called Pawpaw.⁹

Speaking about their early connection, Ikedieze revealed that their bond was immediate and natural from the very beginning.

“From the very first day I met Osita (Pawpaw), I felt instant chemistry. He’s a true introvert who shies away from people,” he said.

According to him, the idea of meeting someone who looked so much like him had already been circulating before their paths crossed. He recalled that as far back as 2001, fellow students in his school had often mentioned a person with striking similarities to his appearance.

“Before we even met in 2001, students in my school had already been telling me about this guy who looked exactly like me,” he added.

Their eventual meeting marked the beginning of one of Nollywood’s most recognizable partnerships. Over the years, the duo has built a strong legacy in the Nigerian film industry, becoming household names through their comedic roles and undeniable on-screen chemistry.

Fans continue to celebrate their friendship and collaboration, which has remained consistent for over two decades.
