“I’m always working on music to keep my skills in shape – Davido

Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that two songs on his upcoming album were actually recorded about two years ago but didn’t make the cut for his last project.

Speaking during an interview with Billboard News, the award-winning singer explained that he never stops making  music, regardless of whether he’s actively working on an album.

He said:
“I’m always working on music to keep my skills in shape.”

Drawing a comparison with athletes, Davido said staying consistent in the studio is part of maintaining his craft.

“If you do sports, whether you’re in season or not, you’ve still got to work out to keep your body in shape. I do the same to keep my skills in shape”, he stated.

He went on to reveal that two songs fans will hear on his new album were originally intended for his previous album but were eventually left off.

He said:
“The two songs on my new album didn’t make it on the last album and I recorded it like two years ago.”

According to Davido, the project itself has been a long time in the making.

“I recorded this album over the span of about two years”, he added.

The singer’s comments offer fans a glimpse into his creative process, noting how he continuously records music and carefully curates each project before deciding which songs make the final tracklist.
