The couple disclosed this during their appearance on the Valentine edition of the TVC program, Your View.

Yetunde said: “There is nothing my husband is going to do that would make me leave him. Even if he cheats on me I won’t leave him. I am not going to leave my husband because he cheats on me. Nah, that can’t happen.”

Kuti inferred: “We don’t believe in cheating. What is cheating? Love is not ownership.”

One of the hosts asked Seun Kuti, “Would you leave her [your wife] if she cheats on you?

He replied: “No. What has that got to do with anything? Let me tell you something about Africa. African men knew this 500 years ago, 300 years ago, 200 years ago. But today we African men are forming as if we do not know what is going on. In Africa, only your sister’s children inherit from you. Because they are the only ones you are sure are your blood. The heir to the king is the sister’s child. Not his own children. Because he is not sure.

“I am not saying it is okay that my wife cheats on me. African men knew that your blood was matrilineal. Even though she is not your sister’s husband’s child, you are sure she is your sister’s child which is your blood.”
