I turn to my wife when things get too hard – Deyemi Okanlawon

Actor Deyemi Okanlawon says his wife is the person he turns to when life becomes overwhelming, even though he tries not to burden her because she is already balancing her own work and raising their family.

Speaking during a recent interview, the Nollywood actor said he only wakes her to talk when things become especially difficult.

“When the thing is just too hard, there’s my wife. She’s not the first because she’s dealing with her own business and raising the family. But when it’s hitting me too hard, I’ll wake her in the middle of the night and tell her to help me,” he said.

Okanlawon added that he also relies on a strong support system, including a therapist, mentors and trusted friends, saying men should recognise the importance of healing instead of trying to carry every burden alone.

According to him, while men are often expected to be strong and protective, they should never feel ashamed to seek help when they need it.

“My job is to protect the people around me. If gbege happens here now, the chances are I’m going to step in front. It’s what needs to happen. There’s no excuse,.

You also have to be aware enough to find healing”, he said.
