I have never done laundry – Seun Kuti

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti recently made a surprising statement on social media, claiming he has never done laundry in his life.

He explained that his father, the famous Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, treated him differently from his other siblings, giving him special privileges.

Speaking on the Zero Conditions podcast, Kuti recalled being pampered as a child. He mentioned that he was his father’s favorite and described Fela as an amazing dad, even though his siblings might not agree, calling him “a terrible dad.”

Seun proudly shared that due to the special treatment he received growing up, he has never had to do laundry in his life. “I won the daddy lottery. Fela Kuti is my favourite person in the world. If you asked my brothers, they could say he’s a terrible dad, but to me, he was an amazing father,” he said. “You don’t know how spoilt I was growing up. Till now, I have never done laundry in my life. I don’t know how to wash anything. I’m not bragging.”

He also revealed that he joined his late father’s band, Egypt 80, at just 8 years old and was asked by his family to continue with the band after Fela’s passing, keeping all the earnings.
