Vincent Enyeama broke into the Super Eagles team in 2002 before the Korea/Japan World Cup where he later went to and was impressive for the three-time African champions. The former Enyimba captain was in goal for Nigeria against England at the World Cup and his brilliant performance against the Three-Lions made him the number after the tournament. Enyeama and Peter Rufai are regarded as the two greatest Nigerian goalkeepers over the years with some rating the latter. “I go with Enyeama as the greatest Nigerian goalkeeper because I watched more of his games,he belongs to my generation and he is one of the best from the African continent. “I know Peter Rufia was at the World Cup in 1994 and was the first Nigerian goalkeeper to play in the Dutch Eredivise with Go Ahead Eagles.” Between 1983 to 1998, Peter Rufai was in goal for the Super Eagles 65 times and scored one goal before he retired.
