I called Olamide to compensate me, but didn’t pick – Yemi My Lover

Veteran Nollywood filmmaker Yemi My Lover has shared his experience with Olamide, revealing that the musician used his name in a song without compensating him.

Yemi expressed gratitude for the exposure, noting that Olamide was the first to sing about him, paving the way for others like Davido to follow suit. However, when Fuji musician Pasuma asked Yemi if Olamide had paid him for using his name, Yemi replied no.

Pasuma then facilitated a phone call between Yemi and Olamide, during which Olamide apologized and suggested they discuss further. Despite this, Yemi’s attempts to reach Olamide afterward were unsuccessful, with his calls going unanswered and messages unread.

He said:

“Olamide was the first to sing with my name, I was very happy when I heard the song, I thanked God. God blessed my name, that’s why people used it to sing, Davido also sang with my name, many people made use of it.”

“Pasuma said: “Yemo, did Olamide compensate you for using your name in his song?” I said no and that I had never met him before, we don’t have each other’s number. Then Pasuma called him on the phone.”

“Pasuma gave me his number and I called Olamide for more than six months and he never picked my call. I sent him messages, he never read them or replied, so I let him be.”
