Super Egales of Nigeria and Napoli of Italy star striker, Victor Osimhen has expressed optimism on the chances of the Super Eagles winning the title at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria last conquered the continent in South Africa in 2013 but the three-time champions were eliminated in the Round of 16 two years ago by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
Osimhen believes the Super Eagles now have enough quality to win the tournament this time.
“The most important thing for us now is to go to Ivory Coast and win the tournament,” the 25-year-old declared at a dinner organised to celebrate his coronation as Africa’s best player at the team’s training base in Abu Dhabi on Friday night.“I believe in this group, we have bunch of talented players to execute the job, fingers crossed and we are going to do so well.”
Osimhen was top scorer in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers with 10 goals.
The Super Eagles will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A.
