The resident pastor of The Waterbrook Church (TWB) in Lekki, Lagos, and husband to famous Gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, has revealed how his friend, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey helped in reviving the singer
Speaking during a Sunday service, Blessed said the incident occurred while Chinwo was expecting their second child, delivered in 2025. He recounted that she suddenly became unwell after leaving their room for their son’s room, before collapsing unexpectedly.
According to him, efforts to revive her at the time were unsuccessful, prompting him to reach out to gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey for urgent prayer support.
“I can remember what he did when my wife was pregnant with my second child. She came out of the room and went to my son’s room. She started complaining and collapsed. Her face was dark, and I was confused because she was not responding. I called Pastor Nath, and he said that I should do a video call, and he came with the Hallelujah Challenge prayer team,” he said.
He added that Bassey and his prayer team eventually arrived at their home and joined in prayers, after which Chinwo regained consciousness.
Blessed further noted that Bassey later described the situation as a spiritual attack, while expressing gratitude for the support received during the ordeal.
He also reflected on the criticism he faced after marrying the gospel singer, saying he sometimes considers how the public reaction might have been different had the outcome been tragic.
