A Service of Songs was held on Wednesday, June 10 at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, in honour of late actor Alex Ekubo.
The ceremony drew family, friends, and colleagues who gathered to celebrate his life and bid him farewell in an emotional atmosphere.
Actress and presenter Nancy Isime later reflected on the event, describing it as one of the most difficult professional moments she has experienced. She revealed how personally heavy the occasion felt while she carried out hosting duties.
In her words, she said:
“HARDEST Hosting Gig of my Life!
This wasn’t the plan, Old 20 Naira. This wasn’t the plan.
But 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and Matthew 5:4 are my assurance.
I refuse to put your name and rest in one sentence; I just can’t.
I miss you, my Brother”.
Her message anchored the depth of grief felt around the loss, while also reflecting on faith and memories shared, as those present continue to hold on to his legacy.
