Halle Berry engaged to Van Hunt

Oscar-winning actor Halle Berry has revealed she’s engaged to her long-term musician boyfriend Van Hunt

The X-Men star, 59, revealed the news on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she showed off her huge new engagement ring.

‘Well, there’s some confusion that he asked to marry me, and I said “no”. No, that’s not the case. I did not say no. We just don’t have a date,’ she explained.

But of course I said I would marry him! He did put a little ring on it.’

There were reports last summer that Van, 55, had proposed to Halle, but she’d turned him down.

At the time, Van seemed to confirm the news while on the Today Show.

‘I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see,’ he said. ‘It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her!’

Halle added, ‘Well, I’ve been married three times. Van has been married once, and so no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way.

‘We don’t, I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married.’

Halle and Van have been dating since 2020, when they were set up by his brother during the coronavirus pandemic.

The pair got to know each other over the phone for four months before they finally met.

‘We were forced to let only our brains connect and discover if we had a connection before our bodies decided to get involved,’ Halle told AARP: The Magazine.

‘I’d never done it this way. I fell in love with his mind, his conversation.’

The former Bond girl confirmed that the pair were dating on September 17 2020, when she shared a picture of herself wearing a Van Hunt t-shirt along with the caption ‘now ya know,’ followed by heart emojis.

Halle has been married three times before. Her first husband was baseball player David Justice, whom she married in 1993. The pair divorced in 1997.

Four years later, she married singer-songwriter Eric Benét, but they separated in 2003 and got divorced in 2005.

Finally, Halle married actor Olivier Martinez in 2013, and the pair had a son. However, they announced their divorce in 2015.
