Good news for Liverpool fans as UEFA president say they’ll be crowned champions ‘one way or another’

Liverpool will be crowned Premier League champions “one way or another”. Thus is according to UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin.

The Reds are just two wins from ending their 30-year wait for a domestic title, as they currently sit 25 points ahead of the chasing pack in the table.

But the coronavirus pandemic has thrown the remainder of the season into chaos, with question marks over whether the season will even be completed.

There have been suggestions the campaign could be voided if play cannot be resumed in the coming months.

But Ceferin has seemingly rubbished such theories, despite admitting the European cup competitions could scrapped.

“I can’t see a way Liverpool could be left without a title,” Ceferin told Slovenian publication EkipaSN.

“Theoretically it’s not all over, but practically Liverpool are on the verge of it.

“If by any chance the play will not resume, we still have to find a way to declare final results, to declare champions.

“And again I cannot see, I cannot imagine a scenario, in which the champions would not be Liverpool.

“If the Premier League resumes play, Liverpool will almost certainly win the title.

“I understand the fans will be disappointed if it happens in an empty stadium or even in the league offices, but I believe they will get the title one way or another.”

The Premier League season has been suspended indefinitely, but officials are hopeful of a return to action in June, even if it is behind closed doors.
