Holders Manchester United have been drawn to face record 14-time winners Arsenal away in the FA Cup third round.
Premier League leaders Liverpool will host League Two side Accrington Stanley, while Manchester City will welcome Salford City, owned by members of Manchester United’s famed “Class of ’92.”
Non-league side Tamworth, one of only two such clubs remaining in the competition, will play at home against Tottenham Hotspur.
The third-round fixtures are scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, 11 January. This stage sees the entry of the 44 Premier League and Championship clubs, joining the 20 lower-league and non-league teams that progressed from the second round.
There was a palpable sense of disappointment at Old Trafford as Manchester United, who lifted the trophy for a 13th time last May by defeating rivals Manchester City, were drawn against Arsenal.
Tamworth, the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, earned their clash with Spurs after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over League One side Burton Albion. Fellow National League team Dagenham & Redbridge will travel to Championship side Millwall.
In other ties, Chelsea will host League Two’s bottom club Morecambe, while Newcastle United will face fourth-tier strugglers Bromley at St James’ Park.
