Former Flying Eagles star Daniel Daga suspended by his Norwegian club for alleged s£xual ass@ult

Former Flying Eagles midfielder, Daniel Daga, has been suspended by his Norwegian club, Molde FK, over an alleged s£xual ass@ult.

The club confirmed the development in an official statement, noting that the alleged incident was first reported to police in late April 2025.

It was gathered that the alleged incident was first reported to the police in late April 2025. Daga has been formally charged with committing a sexual act without consent, an offence under Section 297 of the Norwegian Penal Code.

Molde FK stated that both the player and the club have cooperated fully with Norwegian police throughout the investigation.

The statement read: “Daniel has been informed of the charges and has been removed from training and matches for the time being. After the end of the season, Daniel traveled home in connection with the team’s planned vacation. Daniel and the club have agreed that he will return to Norway ahead of the legal proceedings.”

Similarly, Molde chairman Odd Ivar Moen described the allegations as serious.

He said: “We have previously experienced how demanding this type of case is for those involved, for the club and for everyone around us. This is a serious matter, and we take the charges that have been brought very seriously.

“It is important for all parties that the case now receives a thorough and fair treatment in the legal system. Out of consideration for the upcoming legal process, we cannot provide any further comments on the details of the case.”

In a related development, Daga’s lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, confirmed that the young star does not admit guilt.

He said: “My client acknowledges that there was a sexual incident, but maintains that it was consensual. He believes that he has done nothing illegal and does not admit guilt. We are surprised that charges have been brought after the investigation that has been carried out.

“It is also important to clarify that there is no suspicion of violence or threats. My client looks forward to having the case heard in court so that he can clear himself. He is very affected by the situation and the report.”

Daga has been handed an indefinite suspension from training, and any match related activity by the club due to the legal proceedings.

He is expected to face a court hearing at Nordmore and Romsdal District Court in March 2026 after his holiday in Nigeria.

Daga was part of the Flying Eagles squad to the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup that crashed in the second round following a 4-0 defeat to Argentina.
