FIBA Women’s World Cup: D’Tigress To Battle South Korea, Hungary, France

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, will begin their quest for global success against South Korea women’s national basketball team following the release of fixtures for the upcoming FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

The reigning African champions have been handed a tough group-stage schedule that also includes matches against Hungary women’s national basketball team and European powerhouse France women’s national basketball team.

According to the official fixture list released by FIBA, D’Tigress will open their campaign on September 4 against South Korea. The game is scheduled to tip off at 1:30pm Nigerian time.

Nigeria will return to action on September 5 for another crucial group-stage clash against Hungary, with the match set for 1:15pm WAT.

Coach Rena Wakama and her side will conclude their group fixtures on September 7 with a difficult encounter against France, one of Europe’s strongest women’s basketball teams. The game is scheduled for 1:30pm WAT.

D’Tigress head into the tournament full of confidence after years of steady progress on the international stage. Nigeria has remained the dominant force in African women’s basketball, winning multiple continental titles and earning respect globally for their fearless style of play.

The team has also recorded historic victories against some of the world’s top basketball nations in recent international competitions, helping establish Nigeria as one of Africa’s strongest representatives in women’s basketball.

Fans will be expecting another impressive outing from the Nigerian side, especially with the squad featuring a mix of experienced stars and rising talents.

The World Cup presents another opportunity for D’Tigress to showcase their growth under coach Wakama while continuing to strengthen Nigeria’s reputation in international basketball.

A strong performance in the group stage could see Nigeria advance into the knockout rounds and potentially achieve one of the country’s best finishes at the tournament.

Preparations are expected to intensify in the coming weeks as attention shifts to final squad selection, training camps, and build-up matches ahead of the competition.
