D’banj announces joint tour with 2baba, Timaya

Afrobeats icon D’banj has announced that he will be hitting the road soon alongside fellow Nigerian music stars 2Baba and Timaya for a highly anticipated joint tour.

During an interview on Adesope Live in London, the “Oliver Twist” hitmaker shared his excitement about reuniting with his longtime peers. He emphasized that the success and global spread of Afrobeats has created enough room for multiple legends to shine together.

“We’ve all built strong catalogs over the years. The industry has grown so much that there’s enough space for everyone,” D’banj said. “So yes, we’re going on tour.”

The veteran entertainer also teased a new collaboration with 2Baba titled “Feeling Good,” hinting that it may double as the name of the upcoming tour. He took a moment to appreciate fans who have remained loyal through the years: “To those who’ve waited, I truly thank you.”

Reflecting on the rise of Afrobeats, D’banj recalled the early challenges African artists faced while trying to break into the UK market. He noted how Caribbean music was once dominant, while African sounds were sidelined — a situation that has now changed dramatically.

“Afrobeats is now everywhere, even in movie soundtracks. It’s the new pop,” he said proudly.

D’banj also praised the African diaspora for its contribution to the genre’s global success, stating: “Massive kudos to not just the artists, but the entire community that’s pushed this movement forward.”
