Davido triggers debate after saying disputes should be settled in the ring

Afrobeats artist Davido has shared his thoughts on how he intends to handle disagreements going forward, offering a perspective that has drawn public interest.

In a recent statement, the award winning performer indicated that he is no longer inclined toward verbal exchanges during disputes. Instead, he suggested a more direct approach, stating:

“There’re no more arguments with me again. You argue with me, we go b0xing straight.

His remarks come at a time when  celebrity boxing is beginning to attract wider attention in Nigeria. Recent events involving entertainers such as Portable and Carter Efe have contributed to growing curiosity around the concept of public figures settling differences in the ring.

Davido’s comments have therefore been viewed by some as part of this broader shift, where entertainment and sport increasingly intersect. There have also been indications that the singer has shown interest in boxing training, including reported interactions with former world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.. Reactions to his statement have varied.

While some interpret his words as a reflection of his outspoken personality, others see them as a possible indication of genuine interest in the evolving celebrity boxing scene.

There has also been speculation about a potential bout involving Davido, particularly following suggestions that Portable may be open to a high-profile match. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding any such arrangement.
