
Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about his first major career breakthrough—signing his first endorsement deal—and how he spent the money that came with it.
In a nostalgic Instagram post, the singer shared a photo of himself holding the official documents from the deal and revealed it was worth N20 million. He was just 17 at the time and had only released two songs.
In the caption, he wrote:
“1st endorsement deal. MY FIRST 20M NAIRA. I PAY ASA HIM PERCENTAGE. FROM THERE I GO BUY CAMARO. FROM CAMARO NAH EKO HOTEL. ME AND @BREDHKN ONE WHOLE FLOOR ONE WEEK. MONEY FINISH.”
According to Davido, after paying his manager’s cut, he treated himself to a Chevrolet Camaro. Not stopping there, he and his cousin B-Red, also an artist, rented out an entire floor at Eko Hotel for a week-long celebration—quickly burning through the money.
