Davido joins Fela as the only Nigerians inducted into the Black Music Walk of Fame

Davido has joined the legendary Fela Kuti as the only Nigerian artist to be inducted into the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame.

Nigerian music star Davido has been listed among the 2026 inductees for the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia. The singer becomes the second Nigerian act after Fela Kuti to receive such an honour.

The honour recognises his contribution to global music and his role in pushing Afrobeats further onto the international stage. Davido will be celebrated alongside other influential figures who have made a lasting impact on Black culture, music and entertainment.

According to the organisers, the 2026 induction ceremony will take place on June 1 in Atlanta’s Historic Westside.

The Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame was established by the Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus to celebrate individuals whose work has helped shape Black entertainment across generations.

Davido is part of a class that also includes rapper Ludacris, gospel legend Paul S. Morton and former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson. His recognition also places him alongside Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, who is among the African icons previously honoured by the organisation.

Since its creation in 2021, the Walk of Fame has celebrated several major entertainment figures, including Beyoncé, Usher, Stevie Wonder and Mary J. Blige.

Honourees are recognised with plaques installed along the walkway in Atlanta, serving as a tribute to their influence on Black culture and the global entertainment industry.

Davido has grown into one of Africa’s most successful music exports. His 2023 album Timeless earned Grammy nominations, while his latest body of work, 5IVE, has further strengthened his international profile.
