Taking to X, the singer wrote:
“Football ehn fit give person BP … I remember when CR7 personally invite me come watch match for Old Trafford then couple years ago … He don book dinner ALL! Party chillin etc …. Nah so dem go lose match .. BABA VEX GO HOUSE .. since that day I still never forgive Maguire.”
The tweet quickly went viral, with fans reacting to the wild claim that Cristiano Ronaldo personally invited Davido to Old Trafford and even arranged a post-match dinner and party—only for Manchester United to lose, allegedly prompting an upset Ronaldo to leave in anger.
However, many social media users were quick to debunk the story. According to reports, Davido’s well-documented visit to Old Trafford was in October 2021, when Manchester United made a dramatic comeback to defeat Atalanta 3-2. Notably, Harry Maguire and Ronaldo were among the scorers that night, which contradicts Davido’s claim of a loss.
Additionally, critics have pointed out that Davido previously stated in interviews that although he considers Ronaldo a friend, they have never actually met in person—casting further doubt on the truthfulness of the singer’s story.
