Afrobeats star Davido has denied being a member of the City Boys movement while responding to criticism over his comments on insecurity and injustice in Nigeria
The singer had earlier admitted that entertainers, including himself, have not done enough to speak out on issues affecting Nigerians.
“I can’t lie we entertainers.. we Dey fuckup I won’t lie including me … we need to speak up… it’s too much injustice goin on.. our country don go,” he wrote on X.
Reacting to the post, an X user identified as Princess Luna accused Davido of being insincere and urged him to take his concerns to a supposed City Boys group chat.
The singer fired back, dismissing the claim and clarifying his relationship with Seyi Tinubu.
“I no Dey part of any city boy group.
“When I called out the government on American media you guys rained curses on me.
“I’ve been friends with ST for years and that’s were it stops and i call and complain to him all the time .. even in person.
“GOD PURNISH UR GENERATION.”
After the exchange, Davido ended the discussion with another post, writing: “I Dey go sleep abeg Una own too much.”
