Chelsea’s Reece James out until 2025 after hamstring injury

Chelsea captain, Reece James is not expected to return to action until 2025 following his latest injury setback.

James has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, making only 39 appearances across all competitions since the start of 2022/23.

The Telegraph has reported there is no set timeframe for James to get back on the pitch, with Chelsea determined not to put any pressure on the player amid the mental toll of another layoff.

The new hamstring injury is not thought to be a recurrence of the issue that saw him undergo surgery last December and miss the second half of the campaign, and the beginning of this one.

The news comes as a huge blow to James’ hopes of finding a level of continuity following a two-year spell ravaged by injuries.

The defender appeared to have overcome his injury woes when he returned to the starting lineup for Chelsea’s clash at Anfield on October 20.

But James lasted just four games before suffering his latest setback.

The England international was said to be devastated by his latest setback considering he has played just 654 minutes of football since being handed the Chelsea captaincy 15 months ago.
