Celine Dion returns on stage at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony

After a four-year hiatus and a diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), Celine Dion delivered a powerful performance at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, marking her first live show since revealing her health condition.

The Canadian superstar sang a solo rendition of Edith Piaf’s classic “L’Hymne à l’Amour” atop the Eiffel Tower, accompanied by a pianist.

Dion’s performance was met with widespread acclaim, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau praising her as an “incredible talent” who “overcame a lot to be there tonight.”

Italian singer Laura Pausini was also moved to tears by Dion’s delivery.

The 56-year-old singer has been undergoing therapy to rebuild her distinctive voice, affected by SPS.

Her appearance at the Olympics marks a significant milestone in her recovery, with a new residency in Las Vegas and a documentary about her struggles with SPS, “I Am: Celine Dion,” already generating buzz.

Dion’s performance was a testament to her enduring talent and dedication, solidifying her status as the “queen of power ballads.”
