Cardi B wins legal round as Texas court dismisses song lawsuit

In a recent twist, Cardi B and her record labels have come out on top in a lawsuit filed in Texas over alleged music th.eft.

Here’s what happened. According to TMZ, Back in July 2024, Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar — who performs as Kemika 1956 took legal action against Cardi B. They claimed that her March 2024 track “Enough (Miami)” borrowed elements from their 2021 song “Greasy Frybread” without permission.

The case was filed in Texas and also included her labels, Atlantic Records and Warner Music Group, as defendants.

But according to new legal documents obtained by TMZ, the court didn’t even get into the substance of the claims. Instead, the judge dismissed the case on a technicality  citing a lack of personal jurisdiction.

In simple terms, the court ruled that Fraustro and Aguilar failed to prove that a Texas court had the authority to handle the case.

So for now, the lawsuit has been thrown out — giving Cardi B and her team an early legal win without the case moving forward.
