Burna Boy becomes 1st African artiste to top Billboard 200 chart

Burna Boy has etched his name into music history by becoming the first African artist to claim the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global 200 Songs chart

The achievement was made possible by “Dai Dai,” his FIFA World Cup collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira. The track now sits atop both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. rankings.

The song is also gaining momentum in the United States, jumping 12 places to hit No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In another major achievement for Nigerian music, Tems reached a new career high as her hit song “What You Need” climbed to No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 after spending 15 weeks on the chart.

The song had earlier topped both the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and the Mediabase Urban Radio Airplay chart, making Tems the first solo African artist to lead both radio charts.
