Nigerian content creator ZicSaloma has stirred conversation online with a bold take on breaking free from poverty.
In an Instagram video, he advised people to be “financially heartless” not cruel, but strategic when it comes to money.
He explained that in many households, once your earnings are known, family and friends often expect a share, sometimes derailing your financial plans. His own early business efforts failed repeatedly because relatives would siphon off his savings.
ZicSaloma suggests keeping your income private, downplaying what you earn, and saying no when needed.
He also warned that giving too much to friends can breed dependency rather than gratitude.
The clip has sparked a heated online debate: some agree that strict boundaries are essential for wealth, while others say it sounds too harsh in a culture that values sharing.
