Arsenal have announced the signing of Denmark international Christian Norgaard from Brentford.
The 31-year-old midfielder joins the Gunners after six successful seasons with the Bees, where he made 196 appearances across all competitions, including 122 in the Premier League. He scored 13 goals and provided 18 assists during his time at the club.
Norgaard began his professional career with Lyngby in Denmark before brief spells with Hamburg in Germany and Brøndby, where he emerged as a key figure. He was named Player of the Year in 2017 and helped Brøndby win the Danish Cup in the 2017/18 season.
He moved to Italy in 2018 to join Fiorentina, spending a season in Serie A before making the switch to Brentford in 2019. At Brentford, he played a central role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League and was appointed captain ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, which saw him achieve his best goalscoring season to date with six goals.
At international level, Norgaard has earned 35 caps for Denmark since making his senior debut in a 0-0 draw against England in 2020.
Speaking on the signing, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Christian to Arsenal. He’s an international player with proven leadership skills and excellent tactical awareness. His experience and presence will bring added balance and depth to the squad.”
Sporting Director Andrea Berta added:
“Christian has been a consistent high performer in the Premier League. He is a leader and brings tactical intelligence and versatility. He will have a very positive impact on the team.”
Norgaard will wear the No. 16 shirt and has already joined up with the squad for pre-season.
The transfer remains subject to the completion of regulatory procedures.
